You don't know that. It's completely contrary to the time-line furnished by US-Israel.org that I already linked, which states that the Jews re-established their centers of learning in other parts of Israel.

What you assume, having heard "next year in Israel" all your life, is that it has to be true that the Jews were thrown out of Israel.

What if it's all been a big, fat lie?

I am perfectly willing to spot you the proposition that the Jews lost political control of the country but that happened centuries before the Romans got there.

What the crying has been about, seems to me, is not losing the ability to live in the old country, but no longer being in control.

Just as we see today in Israel. The Jews were not satisfied with living in Palestine, they wanted and want a Jewish country, run by Jews for Jews.

Very important distinctions in my mind.
