Perhaps you're not aware of the change in ownership/management of the site.

Could you then at least explain the arbitrary way that suspensions are meted out?

Not really. I disagree that suspensions are meted out arbitrarily. They usually are only seen as arbitrary or unfair to the suspendee.

Did my "quit breaking the rules and I'll quit suspending you" post at least clarify my expectations regarding your conduct?

Now, suddenly(in the last few weeks), it seems that what was acceptable is now no longer acceptable.

That's possible. New ownership and new admin. I didn't keep up with Jeff's activities as an admin but, if anything, I remember him being a bit more of a hard-ass than me, so I would expect that I'm being more tolerant of some kinds of violations (depending on context and location) than he was.

I'll tell you this, though. Though both Jeff and I (and Jill) have always been pretty tolerant in Coffee Shop threads, I'm probably going to be less tolerant. I don't like that the busiest thread on the site doesn't have squat to do with the market yet yields 90% of the TOfU complaints and violations (and I'd wager that well over half the people participating in it never participate in market-related threads, so aren't adding anything of real value to a site with "Investor" in its name) so if it seems I'm "cracking down" on that thread, it's because I am.
