As soon as I detect that they are telemarketeers, I hang up. Right in midsentence (their midsenetence). Over time, it's amazing how well that works. I go several months between calls now.

The latest scam is the "5-minute survey". They tell you it will take about 5 minutes to get through the questions, Invariably, if you cooperate, it is 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or longer.

So you get them started, then hang up.

I know, I'm not nice. BUT it is my phone, I pay for it, and it is MY time, which they do not pay for.

I am hooked up with a couple of legit market research firms. I go to their offices for interviews or focus groups. And they pay. And fairly well too.

I don't hang up when they call.
