First of all, the French have never really been the most reliable ally of the United States. After the WWI, they undercut Wilson. In WWII, during the North African campaign French troops resisted and killed many American soldiers. In the middle of the Cold War, they quit NATO and didn't rejoin till after the Soviet Union had collapsed. A French Officer was convicted of passing Allied plans to Yugoslavia (remember Kosovo?) - he claims that he was following orders.

re:"our allies are no longer our allies"

I see.....conservatives hate the French so that makes the whole diplomatic mess completely alright. What about the Germans? What about the Canadians? They are both two of our strongest allies second only to the Brits.

Have you noticed they're trying to close their American embassies? Bush gets insecure around the Europeans. His only alternative for any alliance with them is to buy them off and then set the terms. As a result Spain and Poland have been substituted for France and Germany, and we have to pay their way. We, the taxpayers, are paying cold cash because our president isn't up to international diplomacy.

Terrorist blew up Embassies during the Clinton Administration. This is why OBL has been on the FBI's most wanted list since 1999.

re:"terrorist are blowing up US embassies all over the world..."

There is absolutely no comparison. Twice as many embassies have been attacked during Bush's tenure and we're only 2 1/2 years into his term.

The economy has been tanking for almost 3 years now, and it is over three years since the biggest stock bubble in 70 years of US history, popped.

And your point was?
