I appreciate your thoughtful response.

Black Hawk Down, I saw the movie!
I agree it was humanitarian but we left because the voices at the time demanded it. I am not aware of President CLinton demanding a change in tactics. Maybe this is explained in the book. I am not an expert, but my sense is the humanitarian aid was truncated and they are in a sorry state right now.

I also am idealistic enough to want to help the Africans suffering. BUt what an outcry there would be. The lack of support and attack for a President who suggests this would
sadden us.

To understand how the world feels about Africa.Track down a global map showing the satellite/communication
footprint currently in existence. It looks like a cookie cutter was used to insure the blockage of technology to the Africa. When I saw this a year or so ago I understood where the world stands in relation to the African COntinent. It's as if a collective agreement was made to let the population die off so the natural resources and strategic interests could walk in 20 or 30 years from now.(Again, all this is the humble perception of a simple citizen.)

But the fact remains, Bosnia and Kosovo seemed to work out OK even with the flak against the Clinton Administration.

Good Cheer,
