Unfortunately, I believe it will get worse before it gets better. Why? Because, the way the game usually works is that the more moderate/reasonable people are 'thrown to the wolves' as scapegoats. That means that Rice and Powell are out, and Wolf/Rumsfeld are in. That means we'll be in real trouble without these few voices of moderation. Please note that fact that despite these and other equally disturbing domestic issues, the American public has been quiet. I believe it is the result of the extremely successful right-wing media environment that has provided both an outlet to strongly conservative revisionist thinking (e.g. Coulter's 'McCarthy was a Good Guy') as well as supressing mainstream media outrage (e.g. where was the outcry when the White House re-invented science in the EPA report on global warming..uh...climate change). Won't get fooled again? How quickly we forget.
