Sig, a couple of nights ago I tested my daughter's new [1800 km] 50cc motorscooter to see why it conks out sometimes. It conked out and I found I was not God. But the exercise pushing it home was good and having a ride on a motorbike after all these years was fun.

Nevertheless, I do know how to solve the problems of Africa.

Colonisation!

They need rulers who can run the show well.

However, we shouldn't stop there. We also need to colonize the USA, New Zealand and a lot more besides. Of course we should start at the serious problem places such as Iraq, Congo, Zimbabwe etc.

The way to do it is set up a UN Reconstitution Conference in Iraq, where there are lots of palaces which will be suitable venues. They also have lots of oil which we can use to fund operations.

We don't want a busy-body UN telling us how to brush our teeth in the morning, but we need a Tragedy of the Commons rule setter [spectrum, oceans and other matters transcend borders]. Also to resolve swarms of territorial problems which have accumulated over millennia of Might Makes Right and Possession by Conquest, which cannot be put back because all the people of the time are dead and those who are left are a mix and the best we can do is stabilize a bad situation and relieve the worst of the outcomes.

So, places like Israel and the surrounds are high on the list to be resolved. Israel is a UN construct and one of the few, so they are indeed a chosen people in that regard. But there's East Timor still to be tidied up and many others.

At present, we are like the many squabbling dark ages mini kingdoms across Europe, with alliances and raw power leading to the War to End all Wars [which didn't end anything except umpty millions of lives and led directly to WWII which at least ended the Third Reich and Japan's Empire before it got started].

What works are systems like the USA, where the Feds don't rule everything and states run their own affairs. A comparable system is needed for the world, but with even less Beltway control from bossy-britches bureaucrats. The only powers should be border stability and commons matters [ocean, spectrum, Antarctica, rivers, air pollution, space etc].

In fact, just as soon as I've got our daughter's motor scooter going, I'm going to draft a World Constitution for a revamped UN, invade Africa and the Middle East, sort out Chechnya, Kashmir, Tibet and North Korea's noocular weapons.

PS: Kuwait is also going to be nationalized - they shouldn't have all that oil for themselves [they only have it because the UN, USA, NZ, Oz, UK etc saved the day]. Iraqis shouldn't have all the oil either.
