It depends. If the recall election is in November, it is not so good for Davis. But if it is in March, then his chances are pretty good.

In any case, even though I am not a big fan of Davis, I think it makes no sense to replace him -- whichever Republican that replaces Davis will keep blaming him for the next 10 years, so we might as well save one step and keep blaming Davis ourselves! We don't need someone with a nice salary and living in a posh mansion to say it for us!

I actually meant for Prez, not governor (she was raised as a possible candidate in 2000, I believe).

Yes, the energy barons robbed us blind. What is even sadder is the right wings ignorant comments on the cause. You compared it to blaming the bank president when the bank is robbed. I think of it more as blaming the rape victim instead of the rapist (remember the old 'she was asking for it' argument). The fact that right wingers accept this falacy is proof that they are simply drones of the right-wing media and refuse to think for themselves.

However, Davis has not emerged as a stellar leader. He should have been shaking Bush by the short hairs, raising a stink, and catching the crooks. But, maybe that was impossible after 9/11. He should definitely not have signed the long term contracts until the market settled.

In the end, California was punished for not supporting Bush in 2000. Meanwhile, California dragged the US economy down the tubes. Karma being what it is, having Bush lose in 2004 on his 'stupid economy' would be justice for his political childishness.

Davis political career is as dead as last week's fish. So is Kerry's failed presidential campaign.

No doubt you'll be forced over to Dean, and WE will have to put up with months of Dean-pumping...
