In the 50's...in Colorado. They were the "good ole' days"...but we just didn't know it. When we'd meet between our house and theirs (about 350 miles inbetween), Grandma would bring a couple of those large tubs, and lots of ice, and we'd have chilled watermelon in the park. And sandwiches made from her homemade white bread. She used to make a sandwich mix from (get this....) chopped Spam, chopped sweet pickles, and chopped boiled eggs with homemade mayo....on the homemade bread. I thought Spam was terrific... Until I grew up and knew what it was...<g>
