Nah, that's uncanadian ... under the quality supervision of a 'well-regulated militia', then of course sure, you need a defense capability and it should have broad participation ..... but pistols in the street, no, to what positive use could they be put, none ... the mounties have pistols, that's it ..... of course you can have a hunting rifle, shotgun, you can even have a pistol but it takes a special license and it's legal only to take it straight from your house to the gun club and back, can't just pack it around anywhere and pop off at whatever you like Here we call it the plight to bare arms - the feds spent a billion loonies setting up a gun registry that doesn't work, a sizable portion of rifle and shotgun owners haven't registered, so they're criminals now, but their tax money will still be taken to pay for it ..... maybe we could learn a thing or two from iraquis, come to think of it But freedom of speech is the first freedom, i think .... of course, if you're holding a gun on somebody, he's not going to try shutting you up, is he .... there is that Mq says property is the first right - #reply-19070216 ... still i maintain that it is expression - #reply-19070377 With expression you can get the others .... with expression and a gun, they might call you mister for a bit, but some will get their own gun, and shoot back, and really a lot of the problem people on this planet already have guns up the ying yang ... trick is to play a new game, maybe stick a daisy in a rifle barrel - that was freedom of expression in action, when the hippy chick did that, and it conquered fine [guardsman helped a lot, by not shooting, he gets supporting actor credit]
