I went to Whole Foods :-)

It is the Mecca for anyone interested in gastronomy. I bought quince paste, which Mr. X and I enjoy with cheese(like Manchego, or Piave), and crackers. I bought lingonberry jam- which is my favorite, and sour cherry jam for the kids. We bought a bunch of pomegranate juice (wonderful taste as well as a healthy anti-oxidant), and I always buy the corn and arrugula salad, and this time they also had a shrimp and lemon grass salad. They also had the Thai chicken soup that I just love, and they usually don't have it when I go, so I was really happy to get some of that.

I found this amazing lemongrass soap ("Plantlife" herbal soap crafters)- never have I smelled a lemongrass soap that is more lemony- and let me tell you, I am a connoisseur of lemon grass products- lemongrass is my favorite smell. I like the organics lemongrass shampoo, and someone has a lemongrass hand soap that we use that is nice, but this soap is AMAZING!!!

Gangs of New York
interesting
Over the top
and never, EVER, cast diCaprio in a part where he should play some sort of he-man

I didn't think Daniel Day-Lewis worked in this either

Jim Broadbent was, as always, great- and a lot of the supporting cast were good- Diaz, amazingly, worked semi-ok (perhaps it was because I was comparing her to poor Leonardo)

I ran across the funniest review. I was shopping for movies to fill out my collection for next year- I especially want a better treatment of "The Most Dangerous Game"- the one I have is from the 30's- and I'm thinking of checking out the one from the 40's called "A Game of Death"- but anyway, while I was searching away I found the very amusing review I have posted below. IMO none of Peter Greenaway's movies have much appeal (ick) and I got progressively more annoyed with him. I have not seen Zed- but I've seen 3 of his other movies, and I won't be watching anymore of them. "Needless to say...not appeal[ing] to everyone" quite the understatement, I would think.

From All Movie Guide
This twisted black comedy is obsessed in turn with swans, twins, and decay. Alba Bewick (Andréa Ferréol) is involved in a swan-related car accident near the zoo. The accident kills two other women, the wives of two twin zoologists, Oliver and Oswald Deuce (Brian and Eric Deacon). Alba is lucky enough to escape with one leg. Eventually her doctor also removes the other "because it was dangerous for the spine." Meanwhile, the Deuce brothers, as a result of losing their wives, have become fascinated with the decay of corpses, and they start making rather gruesome time-lapse films to examine the process more thoroughly. Both brothers become involved with Alba. Needless to say, this film may not appeal to everybody. John Voorhees
