At the time, thanks to the huge phony lie, theft and scare campaign by the Texas energy cartel and Republican partners, signing the 12 billion deal seemed like a good idea. The day after Jeffords switched parties and gave Dems subpoena powers, energy prices plummeted and there was a sudden surplus.
