The 160,000-Year-Old Man

Many of the hallmarks of modern humanity, including art, culture, spoken language and civilization, were probably still tens of thousands of years in the future

Man with "Many of the hallmarks of modern humanity, including art, culture, spoken language and civilization" arrived in SE Asia perhaps as early as 60,000+ years ago. The ancestors of these fully modern people had earlier left Africa. Mitochondrial evidence points to a small ancestor pool for all modern humans around (or shortly after) the Toba explosion. So we seem to know, that from a small group of ancestors, somewhere in Africa, shortly after Toba, fully modern man was spreading out of Africa.

Thanks for the article. Any more will also be appreciated.<g>
