He's sounding more and more like Trent Lott without the smarminess.

Just read elsewhere on the net that he's supporting a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. As far as I can tell, not many in the gay community are pushing for the right to get married. All they want is to be able to get the same insurance benefits most other people have access to. Seems reasonable to me...

This zone of privacy around my mouth is gradually being encroached upon by bureaucrats with an unnatural interest in the fat content of the food I put into it.

I'm going on a tangent here because I heard something related, over the weekend.

The United States recognizes Marriages that are established in other countries. Some countries, like Canada, allow Gay marriages. The United States recognizes these "first cousin" marriages even thought they don't allow them to take place in the US. Doesn't the logic work that the US has to recognise Gay marriages that take place in Canada as well? ... Even if congress bans gay marriages taking place in the US?

The government currently does not recognize gay marriage...Can someone define "banning gay marriages?" Thanks ahead of time...
