Gosh
thanks for the history lesson.

I can only hope that this country throws out the current government- but of course that is because I disagree with them. I think I've opposed almost everything they've done, or if I've agreed with what they've done, I've disagreed with the way they did it.

California is in deep doodoo. The recession in high tech has been very bad for us- we counted on that bubble lasting, damn it. Silly us. Social services here are in for a rough time.

Berzerkers: "The Weird Men Behind George W Bush's War"

Crocodile,

Thanks for the colorful analysis of the Mulroney legacy. That's probably the best, most succinct explanation of that episode I've ever seen. :)

Along the lines of the Commonwealth having a lot to do with the politics of Washington, here's an interesting article from the UK's New Statesman that really helps to clarify some of the linkages in the chains of insanity that Bush is tying the world up in:

Croc, that post jolted me. I doubt that one in a thousand Americans would write something like that. Does your populace, en masse, actually get worked up about the kind of cronyism and corruption that seems to draw huge yawns when it even sees the light of day in the news here ? And then they actually do something about it, and throw the bums out ? Damn.

>>so I guess maybe our Ex-PM has been passing along some of his secret tips for tying flies along with how best to ravage a nation, infuriate the voters, and throw a screw into the country's economy............... >>

Well, maybe he's been passing them along, but somehow the voters here haven't been paying attention.
