Bob Herbert on the ways in which the Bush folk are partially responsible for the bankrupting of the states and thus the reduction in essential state services.

Read it again, John. It is a class warfare diatribe about how the children are starving while the rich get richer. Herbert tries to blame the Calif repubs for the lack of a budget there when the Dems have the Governor and a huge majority in both houses. They refuse to cut the budget when faced with a 25 Billion deficit and want to force the Repubs to raise taxes instead. Typical welfare state nonsense.

The Dems have already passed Tax increase after Tax increase. If you own a car in California, and pay $150 registration on it, which is typical, your next bill will be $450! Can you imagine what the people of Calif are going to do to those free spending bastards?
