Maybe the pronouncements of Greenspan and others will act as handwriting on the wall to speed the decisions to shut down and move. I have not tried to calculate it objectively, but suspect that a NG price hovering around $5 would still lead to very high returns from the NG royalty trusts. My fear now is that when there are big returns, it starts to cross the minds of management to think: "Those stockholders are making too much money!" That's what they told Nabokov when his books began to sell well (he changed publishers when he heard that).
