Slacker, Re:” Would you (anyone) care to venture an “educated” guess of Qualcomm’s chipset market share going forward for each CDMA2000 and WCDMA?
I think this is where I would probably differ most from your numbers. I dont think I have seen any compensation for marketshare gains by Nokia in CDMA in '04.”<<<<

Sorry I didn’t state that more clearly. My rough handset sales forecast for 2004 was Qualcomm’s addressable market for CDMA2000 and WCDMA, not chipset sales in those markets. I too expect Nokia to gain market share in CDMA2000 as I believe Qualcomm currently has over a 90% share in that market. From my records, Qualcomm’s historical CDMA chipset market share for the past 3 years prior to FY2003 has been in the mid to high 70% range. My guess for CDMA2000 for 2004 would be in the mid to high 80% range. My guess for WCDMA chipsets for 2004 would be fairly low as I projected most WCDMA sales would be from DoCoMo (8M out of 15M).

Slacker, Re: the 10M WCDMA figure for 2004. You've got a pretty good memory. I believe I've found your source- Dr. J stated in the Q2FY03 earnings cc>>"..And so my guess is that it will be between '04 and '05, early '05, that hopefully we move through that 10 million subscriber number"
