Bears? I've seen a few _ Fleck, Fred Hickey, the usual. I've seen other wildlife, too, like PUMA.
So, follow the bouncing bull....
- In the real world, my ex-father-in-law (the long-haul truck driver) says things have picked up noticeably. Trucking companies are looking for drivers again (or still).
- The economy here (K.C. area) is warm and cool, but still mostly cool. Hopes for a big upturn in grain prices have faded, but livestock is OK. Sprint is still a big mess. State governments (Kansas and Missouri) are slashing jobs, and the private sector is absorbing those ex-bureaucrats very slowly.
- Maybe Springfield, MO (population 120,000) is a good example. At 8 o'clock on a Saturday night, Springfield looks dead. Just lifeless. Then, cars start streaming in from the lake areas and the town begins to bustle. Going to the lake on Saturday costs less than spending Saturday at the mall. There is activity, just in different places than it once was. Store owners say shoppers still spend money, but they spend cautiously.
Did you know you can get a decent motel room in Springfield for less than $30 a night, with cable TV and breakfast? Really. For real.
I just don't know what to make of that.
