It is "news" as you described. And should be reported exactly as the transcript quotes. What is "Opinion" is what someone else thinks of what "Ari" said....

This actually happened to me:

Years ago, we went to Lockport NY to watch the 1964 kickoff for the William Miller campaign who was the running mate of Barry Goldwater. Stood in the hot sun for 3 hours to wait for them to arrive.

We heard what both men had to say.

Later, with another couple on the way home, the four of us heard on ABC car radio....NOT what Goldwater and Miller had said, BUT rather: What Hubert Humphrey said they had said...AND what Humphrey said they said, WAS NOT AT ALL WHAT WE HAD JUST HEARD THEM SAY. Unfortunately, Humphrey lied.

Humphrey was in Minnesota....and did not tell what Goldwater-Miller had said....He just made up his "opinion" of what they said.

And ALL Four of us heard the original, and listened to the copy.

We were young then....and it changed FOREVER the way we looked at the media and the political parties as of that minute.

Try it sometime ---you will see.
