Unlike many, I have great respect for Dr. Alan Greenspan. He took over the Chairmanship of the FRB just before the crash in '87. Since then he has tamed inflation and provided for the expansion of the 90's. I personally blame the investment community for the "bubble" that began bursting in 2000. The internet had everyone chomping at the bit to get a piece of the action. Few realized that the low costs of setting up and running an internet store also reduced the barriers to entry for competition. This would eventually destroy margins as everyone tried to get market share. It's easy to point backward and say "they should have". It's a harder call looking forward. Ira
