Don't sweat you dog tags. When I needed an operation in 1987, I gave blood autologously (3 pints - one pint every 3 weeks). Fortunately, they typed my blood just in case it got mixed up somehow; my dog tags had the wrong type since 1961, A- instead of the correct type B+. I'm lucky I didn't need any in an emergency in the 26 years before the surgery. I wonder how many other guys in Basic Training had their blood type wrong by the same incompetents that did mine? I hope no one in Vietnam was killed by an atrocious error like that.
