Are you saying that when Sadat came to Jerusalem and lambasted Israel repeatedly for its treatment of the Palestinians, that is what won over Begin? LOL!

Have you ever investigated RIF.org , Thomas.. I'm sure the program could do you a great amount of good and avoid these embarrassing moments of cognitive misfires you constantly inflict upon us all...

The reason that 1977 was different than 1971 was that Sadat, after the showing of the Egyptian military in 1973, could hold his head up high enough to swallow his pride and agree to peace. That's something he could not do in 1971.

But also, 1973 was a message to Israel that the spectacular victories of 1967 were no longer guaranteed and war with Egypt was not worth the cost in Israeli lives.

Neither side could have made peace in 1971.. Israel certainly was unwilling to do so without face-face negotiations...
