Would agree with Peter's edit on a non-technical interpretation of the terms. It would seem to me that a derivative would mean a molecule or chemical entity whose formulation and/or structure is based on (derived from) the velcade agent. Analogues might fit that description but might also be analogues, quite distinct from the V structure or formulation, in terms of method of action.

(from one who received honors in high school chem and biology and passing grades in freshman Bio--but deadended there in terms of science (:--))
