Modern Arabs might give up the idea that every inch of the Middle East is "Arab" land, no matter who owns it and for how long. Does Mexico ruin its prospects proclaiming that Texas is Mexican forever and that the hated gringos must be driven out? Why do the Arab countries do this? It's not for the poor Palestinians - nobody gives a damn for the welfare of the Palestinians but the Palestinians and the Israelis. It's for a "perfectly stupid idea" for which those who hold power now are willing to sacrifice the future prospects of their countries.
