McCarthy was the Ken Starr of the 50's. Only instead of investigating a president who'd done no wrong (except in his sex life) he wanted to investigate the entire nation, starting with the entertainment community. And if you didn't sign the phony confessions his people wrote out (like Starr tried to do with McDougals) he'd persecute you, put you in jail, get you blacklisted and basically ruin your life. Sort of like in Saddam's Iraq, without the torture chambers.

It was a dark age in American history. McCarthy will go down in infamy. The closest we ever got to a right-wing fascist dictatorship taking over. And this is Anne Coulter's hero. LOL Actually it's not funny.
