But I still have a problem with telling people you are cutting their taxes but not cutting spending since in reality you are not cutting their taxes you are just changing their form in a way which makes them less apparent (or transparent to use a word which seems to be in vogue these days.)

Outstanding point....aside from the obvious currency debasement issues, one of the ways the "form" of taxation changes is by shifting the burdent to states and municipalities, who don't have the luxury of printing unlimited confetti. Just ask Californee......

It's all smoke and mirrors, designed to shift assignment of blame away from incumbents. Another form of "don't tax you, don't tax me, tax the guy behind the tree".....
