Yes, part of the mess here is caused by the same issue of overspending. If the recallers have a single item that will resonate, they should move from the energy issue to the spending issue, I believe.

Sorry, didn't realize you were from the NW. Hope you weren't bored with my retelling of recent history.<g>

Although I was never a proponent of Gingrich, the one thing he brought was a fervor for cutting spending. I also think it was Clinton's greatest triumph, to take that fervor, distill out some of the hateful and childish elements, and turn it into a budget that generate surpluses.

Yes, conservatives love to ignore Clinton's strong sense of fiscal responsibility. That's supposed to be their area of expertise. <g>

Hopefully, in the next boom, we'll remember to not assume that it will last forever. But, we seemed doomed to forget...

Part of the problem is that this latest boom lasted [for OR]nearly 20 years. Memories don't run that long. <g>
