Obviously Bush's rhetoric doesn't have much deterrent effect on the ground. The mosque explosion in Fallujah (probably self-inflicted but easy to blame the US with enough "witnesses") reportedly caused some there to call for "holy war" against US forces. This will get worse before it gets better, if it ever does. Eight U.S. Soldiers Hurt in Grenade Attacks in Iraq, AFP Says July 3 (Bloomberg) -- Six U.S. soldiers were wounded in an explosion today near the town of Ramadi, west of Baghdad, and a further two were hurt in an attack in the capital, Agence France- Presse reported. The six were hurt when an ``explosive device'' targeted their two-vehicle convoy, U.S. Corporal Tod Pruden told AFP. Two attackers on a motorbike had fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the convoy, AFP cited residents of the town, 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Baghdad, as saying. In Baghdad itself, two U.S. soldiers were injured today when assailants threw a grenade at a U.S. armored vehicle and set it on fire with gasoline afterward, AFP said. A woman soldier suffered injuries to her hand and her male companion was hurt in the foot, according to AFP.

I am guessing that Bush's comment will be interpreted by some in Iraq, and by terrorists, as incitement to kill more Americans. Where will the outrage at Bush be when more are sent home in body bags? Why is it that we can get outraged about a sexual affair here, but the real stuff just goes on by without most people caring. Iraq, Enron, 9-11 lack of security before, no Bin Laden, so Saddam, etc. What has this administration produced other than climbing unemployment: Jobless rate up to 6.4% Climb in jobless rate worse than expected as employers cut another 30,000 jobs. Unemployment rose to 6.4 percent from 6.1 percent in May, the Labor Department said. That's the highest level since April 1994. It was also worse than the forecasts of economists, who on average expected a jobless rate of 6.2 percent, according to a Reuters poll.
