Joan, thanks for the quick response. I'll re-post it to KT. There used to be an investment call-in show on public radio...a fellow by the name of John MacDonald used to mc it. I'm pretty positive that he said 403b's could be self-directed however, the school boards did not want this to be common knowledge because of the contracts awarded to whatever investment firm/fund was chosen and they wanted to keep everybody "in the fold". Teachers especially, were always calling in because of the limited choices they were given. OT One of FL state's retirement fund directors was also on the board of Enron (remember them<G>). He had the retirement fund buying Enron all the way down. What a guy! Thanks again, Bill/WA
