Like any non-competitive bureaucracy, state & federal gov'ts are wasteful.

Can't believe you believe there is not vast waste and inefficiency in government. Hundreds of billions of Federal spending is literally unaccounted for. You have that much faith in bureaucrats that you are willing to assume that it all was spent for the common good?

Can't believe you swallow the myth that gov spending is wasteful and inefficient.

It is preposterous to call an economic activity funded by private money spent willingly and eagerly by free citizens "a huge drag on the economy". It is illegitimate for anyone to make judgements about how "efficient" someone else uses his own private property.

You don't own it, you don't control it, it's none of your business.
