It is confirmed. The exchange declares that this purchase to close a short just ceases to exist. What this means is instead of being flat I was still short which in itself isn't a problem except the very next trade was a buy to go long so instead of being long I was just flat. When I sold my long I actually went short and when I bought my long back because the market still had juice that made me flat. You get the idea here.

What does this all add up to you say. Well for today not counting the short in question at all I have gone from 246 points to the good per contract to 148 to the bad near as I can figure.

As I explained this to IB's customer service and tried to point out that the whole trade sale and cover should be wiped out if they are going to wipe things out I was informed that isn't how it works and the fact that the rest of your day was spent opposite of your intent is not their problem and basically was told tough shit.

So because my cover executed at 8976 and all trades below 8985 are being wiped out of existence I am going to head to the lake with high blood pressure, a serious mad on and substantial loss generated instead of the best day I have had in some time not even counting the bad trade.

Have a good holiday folks.

Oh and instead of heading there with good gains and short I head with loss's and flat. Grrrr!
