No, I don't think so. They're politicians. They're expected to do what they think will be popular. We know that the Bill of Rights isn't in the minds of the voters so it isn't much more in the minds of their representatives. That's why we the founding fathers gave us the Supremes, who aren't subject to the passions of the voters, to carry the Constitution's water whether the voters like it or not, particularly to protect the minority from the majority.
