Very, very good news, imo

"It's not clear yet what UTStarcom intends to do with the technology it has bought "

Its quite clear: video streams with voice & data, over Qos traffic-shaping make for the eventuality of a full-service wireless telcom provider to out-compete any cable, telco, internet service provider. One cheap fee for all bandwidth-related services is unbeatable. Not just for under-industrialized countries but everywhere. Its good to read this while waiting for US providers to consider such things, who're too mired in their capex nightmares of yesteryear to wake up.

Now, let's see if that's what they really want to do, and if they can.
