Any? I have read no stories about that. We found mass graves, but they were form the Iran war and the post Gulf War uprising. Both Iran and Iraq fought using human waves of cannon fodder. Bodies were piled up, you had to bury them. We have not found any current evidence of massive persecution, at least no more so than you'd find in countries we support like Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia. I have a feeling Saddam's really evil behavior slowed to a slow grind a long time ago. he certainly wasn't any Hitler, though he might have dreamt of being back in the late 80's. So you ask why didn't he let inspectors in with a free hand? Actually, in the end, he did, almost. Blix never reported any stiff resistance, just the usual games. No doubt Saddam was a bad man, but what if the puppet we put in turns out to be almost as bad in the future? Say if he needs to put down a shiite uprising with force? Then he'll have his own mass graves. Or maybe we will. Remember the Shah was very brutal against his own people. Against the Muslims in particular. He too had a ruling class, then persecuted everyone else. The mullahs are worse, and we'd all like them gone, but it's the age-old question. is it really black and white or is everything just shades of grey? I tell you Anne Coulter's new book sounds like it could have been written by a right-wing Christian Taliban leader. Anyone who disagrees with her is a "traitor". I have been to Cuba and the people there are pretty bad off, but mainly economically, in terms of food to eat. Castro is bad but Batista before him treated 90% of the country like slaves. Sure we'd prefer the Batistas, but is Castro that much worse? Not to the poor people anyway. And the rich ones mostly live in Miami now, after being driven out of their mansions. Again it's not black and white.
