Ted, Listen......there are three key players in this party: the Israelis, the Palestinians and us. The Europeans may give some aid as may some of the surrounding Arab states but they are the choir.

They are not key players......sorry......a better term would have been the chorus. <g>

How is that different than the support from American Jews?

I believe the fact we have a large Jewish population is at least party responsible for catapulting the US into the role of a major player. Prior to WW II, the US had a little to do with Palestine and the Zionists. However, after the war when the full extent of the Holocaust became apparent, it was then American Jews began to really push for a Jewish state.

While there are conservatives now who believe that Israel is very important to Christians as well as Jews for religious reasons and strongly support the modern state of Israel, I don't think we would be playing the leading role that we play in Israel if it weren't for the powerful lobby that's sponsored by American Jews in this country.
