Hi KLP, Happy 4th of July to you and to everyone else on FADG.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day, so we will definitely go to the Mall this evening to watch the fireworks. We always go to the part right by the Reflecting Pool near Lincoln Memorial, which is too far to see the stage show but about as close as you can get to the fireworks.

We take the metro to the Arlington Cemetary stop and walk across the Memorial Bridge.

I envy people with boats, they can just float on the Potomac and watch.

We haven't been back since 9/11, because Chris doesn't want to deal with metal detectors, but this year I am putting my foot down, we're going, metal detectors and all.

In 2001, we almost didn't make it because it was raining so bad. But we did drive down, and parked the car on the Interstate close to the Pentagon (along with many thousands of others doing the same thing), coincidentally the side that was hit on 9/11.

I confess that in my heart of hearts there is a fear that Al Qaeda will pick this as an opportunity to drop the Big One but I will shake it off and go, anyway.
