AS,

Here's a question for for you... Will the candidate representing the angriest voters win?

Seems to me that a lot of raw emotion is what Bush relied on in 2000 to stiffen the will of his base.

In 2004, the Left is way more angry than the Bush Right. Justifiably so. I don't necessarily agree with you on two items. One, Dean is to my mind no Leftie. He opposed the idiotic Iraqi adventure, which is now blowing up in Bush's face. This will put Dean in good stead in the coming primaries and beyond. But Dean has a middle-of-the-road suggestion on health care. He's a friend of Israel, not opposed to the military, a card-carrying member of the NRA, and a fiscal conservative.

I haven't quite been able to figure out how you've come to label him a Leftie. I sure don't see Dean that way.

Basically, I see Dean as refreshingly honest. The media tries to make it appear that Dean is blunt. Just like they did with McCain in 2000. That isn't necessarily a bad thing in the present political climate.

I realize you're a big fan of John Kerry. And I agree with you that Kerry seems electable. I just wonder if he isn't too compromised and too much of a Washington insider to be able to make the changes we really need, such as rolling back the USA PATRIOT Act, controlling the military-industrial profiteers and providing greater tax equity by rolling back all of Bush's giveaways to the fat cats. That's what I need to hear Kerry start getting a backbone on. :)
