RSS feeds

A couple of short notes on RSS feeds.

1. Daypop is a searchsite dedicated to News Sites, Weblogs and RSS feeds. In addition to the search results presentation on the web, Daypop will also generate a RSS-feed for the search in question. Define the feed in your newsaggregator and you will have an automated search for the area of interest in all documents covered by Daypop.

2. Feedster is a similar site. For some unknown reason their RSS-feed definitions do not seem to work with Newscrawler. That's not supposed to be the case. Perhaps a temporary problem.

The advantage with the above two sites (apart from the possibility to create RSS-feeds for pre-defined searches) is that they make it possible to search sites sources like weblogs and RSS-feeds that most often are not covered by more popular search services.

And the advantage with Newsaggregators is that they are speedy and there is less risk to get bogged down by information overload.

3. About.com has a biotech section at

biotech.about.com

containing the usual mix of useful as well as less useful links, articles and ads.

The site provides a RSS-feed for its headlines.
