Reading more of this Carlyle Group book, the author makes the point that GW Bush owed his presidency to two people most of all: James Baker and his father. Both Carlyle people. Bakes is Mister Big at Carlyle. His next biggest benefactor was Ken Lay. Bectel's Schultz was also instrumental. An Cheney of course.

GW Bush was also a Carlyle director at one point for a money-losing operation called Caterair. It lost 150 million while GW was helping to run it. GW never mentions it in his resume.

The Bin Laden family were also heavy investors in Carlyle. As was the Saudi royal family. Carlyle also owned the private mercenary company which protects the Saudi oil fields, employing ex SF and CIA types. This divisions of Carlyle (now sold to TRW) was rumored to be a CIA front. Halliburton is also rumored to run CIA fronts around the world.

Carlyle has at least two major CIA honchos on its board, Bush Sr. and Frank Carlucci. Carlucci is Rumsfield's best friend and they work closely together.

Carlyle is probably the most successful company in the world now, using their influence and family ties within the White House and Bush government to get the edge on every big deal coming down the pike. Is it in fact a sort of Shadow Government. As it has such tremendous influence. even over GW Bush himself.
