Are you aware that in 1999, Los Angeles passed up Houston as the smoggiest city in the U.S.? The average micrograms of particulate matter per cubic meter in L.A. was 42.8. For Houston it was 29.8 and for Dallas it was 29.2.

And are you aware of MTBE, which the state of California REQUIRED be added to gasoline a few years ago, at a cost of many BILLIONS of dollars to the consumer? It is supposed to be better for the air. But they failed to research that little detail of the impact on water (and water is a HUGE issue in California). Turns out that MTBE is water soluble and therefore almost impossible to remove from the water supply. There are many municipalities in California that have had their water supplies RUINED by MTBE. So now the state is requiring the oil companies to remove MTBE from the gas, but they are giving them something like 2 years to do it. How's THAT for cleaner fuel???

Hope that gives you an idea about just how up on the environment the state of California (which is run almost entirely by Democrats) is.

Please, back up what you say with facts, at least occasionally, Spirit!!
