I can remember when Roman Candles, along with cherry bombs and M80s were legal. Now in Illinois about the only things that are legal are sparklers and snakes, if it goes bang it isn't legal. Now lots of people go to Missouri and Indiana and get firecrackers, those are still ok in those states.

What mostly was fired off in my area was the big stuff. 200 yards away and I could hear the thwump as it leaves the tube, 100 yards into the air and 3 big explosions. Those are supposed to be limited to the pros with licenses but I saw at least 6 homes firing them off. That isn't crossing the state line to a fireworks stand type of thing.
