We face liberalistic governments allowing ever and ever greater fleeing populations from "fester centers" where poverty, trouble and disease readily brews, to slowly or quickly invade all settled and relatively well off areas, until we are all living like cave men, or alternatively, a reaction to these slow invasions that causes conflict with the sources of the population push. It is highly evident that we cannot sustain Asian immigration into the Americas at the rate that they can sustain emigration here. If we do, then we become more or less completely Asian within less than a dozen generations. This probably does not dismay the Asians at all, but I see no compelling reason to commit cultural and racial suicide from our point of view, the niceness of the people or multiculturalism notwithstanding. It will also in no real way solve their own pressing problems of population overflow and lack of resources. Underlying all conflict with people across borders or cultural racial lines is the root of resources and the useage of them. Man invades areas for grazing land, water, metals, and perhaps security from the neighbour's encroachment. If he lacks resources then he has too many of his own kind for the land, or their abilities to use it. The population of 17th century England and Europe with its large families and teeming urban poor, flooded the Americas until they filled up. It took less than 8 generations. With their lack of effective communication and military organization, the indigenous peoples were effectively overwhelmed. Today's invasions are very like the one that took place over the past 400 years. Slow, innocent, driven by people seeking better lives, partly encouraged by their home governments who have more than they can handle. Today, we are like the Indians of old. Some say it can do no harm. Others are resistant to others of different race and culture, as no doubt were the original inhabitants of the Americas to a degree. Others are steadfast in making no differentiation, still others are laissez-faire about it, saying it may happen anyway eventually.. might as well allow it. But in the end we must ask, why? Not, why not? What does wholesale displacement of people from one place to another really do? What it does is establish hegemony for the group that will breed the most. After a certain point where their group obtains pluralism, we may have to deal with that group's concept of fairness of government and equity of distribution of wealth, which may differ slightly from our own. If one doubts that, just take a tour of Asia and look for an uncorrupt and democratic government with fairness of justice, government and economic and political stability. I am not saying we are angels, or it is all hell on earth over there, but there are some marked differences, and they seem to pervade the entire continent and have for some time. This is what history teaches us. I would say that in general with unrestricted immigration, we are inexorably buying the same basic lifestyle and system. If we import any group en masse, we eventually get the same overpopulation, arbitrary dictatorial goverhments that have been endemic in Asia for eons. They will no doubt will export in like manner. The only consensual governments in history, as tenuous and few as they were, originated in Europe. (There were a few isolates in the Americas as well.) We have yet to see grass roots movements ofr self government amongst peoples anywhere else that has any derivation amongst the people's natural culture and gives us any hope that it may be self sustaining. "Democracies" in Asia, Africa and South America are copy cat and weak, fronts for relations with the IMF. Easily more corrupt than NY or Chicago city hall. They seem to survive until the next riot and end at the army's whim. EC<:-}*
