Not to mention the fact that most of the population of Houston CMSA is in suburbs north and west of the city, while the petrochemical industry is east and southeast of the city. We NEVER have smog on the west side of town.

I have never smelled worse air in my life than in Houston on Christmas day two years ago. It was chemically-toxic and unbreathable. Not exhaust fumes but something worse. On a clear day. Children playing in the park. The refineries obviously letting out their toxic fumes while people are on holiday. Thanks to Bush and others pollution regulation in Texas is almost zero. He squashed every pollution standard in the book while he was in power. Read THE DIRTY TRUTH book about it. All the facts, figures and campaign donations in exchange for pollution breaks.

Perhaps the Bushies are tweaking with the EPA reports again. Like they edited out and censored the latest EPA report on global warming, trying to make it look like it doesn't exist when it's a whopper of a problem. Why does Bush do this? Because he reps the polluters themselves, and in turn they made him who he is, his #1 contributors overs the years.

We haven't had a smog alert in LA for many-many years. It's much better than it used to be. But yes we have too many cars here and it sure ain't perfect. Hydrogen clean fuel cars will be a real saving grace when they finally arrive.
