Leave the Afghanis alone, they say; they don't need any aid; now that they are free, they will find their way.

That's right, KL, and I am the leading advocate of that position. The Russia and Briton both failed at running Afghanistan. What you are advocating would take a "Colonialization " of the place. No thanks. Read your Kipling.

It's a fascinating thing to watch develop, but you can't watch it develop in US papers. Luckily foreign sources cover Afghanistan.

As for drugs, the only answer I like is decriminalization. Take the profit out, and let adults do what they want. There are social costs, but, imo, they are less than fighting a *war* on drugs. We've got too many wars going as it is. imo, of course

Well, the Afghanistan operation always was about Heroin anyway.
You see this conspiracy goes far deeper than many think, back to the Clinton Administration. When he was on the phone to the Russians . The heroin is used in medicine and it was known then that we would need it to treat our casualties when we attacked Irag. Hope we are getting a fair"cut" of the production
I cannot say more at this time as this information was provided by anonymous sources close to the Administration and may let the enemy or our citizens figure out just what the US plans to do, or who we attack next.
