I don't know what you mean by "neo-McCarthyism" but I do believe that Coulter makes some valid points about the McCarthy era. Oh, don't stop with a teaser.........let us know what you liked about the McCarthy era.Do you believe all democrats are traitors or idiots? I think with few exceptions, liberals are either stupid or inexperienced in life. Exceptions are the more moderate liberals like Patrick Moynihan and Harold Ford. But the extreme liberals, like you and tejek and Al, I find to be lacking intellect, for the most part. Do you really think your insults mean anything after you've condoned Bush's lying and said you respect his intellect? In fact, speaking of intellect, the best you can do is regurgitate some right wing propaganda.........you dropped thinking for yourself a long time ago.Do you think we should have stayed in Vietnam for as long as it would have taken to "win" after 10 years and 55,500 casualties and no net gain of territory? I think your question shows you know so little about this subject you aren't able to discuss it intelligently. The loss in Vietnam didn't occur after 10 years. It occurred in the early years when Johnson, the worst president of modern times, didn't have the strength of a true leader like George Bush to win the war. By the time Nixon was elected, it was all about losing gracefully. Besides, Nixon was too busy dealing with breaking into Watergate and then with lying and then with the threat of impeachment.Do you believe everything Bush tells us? Not as a matter of course. However, there is no evidence to suggest Bush has been anything other than brutally honest, so until there is such evidence I would tend to believe him. I think he's "brutal" alright......in fact, his lying has been over the top brutal.Liberals have no grounds, EVER AGAIN, to question the truthfulness of a president. After Clinton, you guys lost any credibility to do so ever again. LOL! We can question whomever we want.......its still a free country!Do you think we should have stayed in Vietnam for as long as it would have taken to "win" after 10 years and 55,500 casualties and no net gain of territory? Do you believe everything Bush tells us? Just wondering how far this mental disease has spread in this country. Pretty far..........like I said earlier this week, this is the first time in a year that I thought that Bush has a chance to be toppled. There is a sizeable minority in this country who dislike Bush and his policies intensely, and their numbers are starting to grow quickly. Eventually a critical mass will be reached. At the same time, Bush has lit the fuses to some politically dangerous bombs. By almost any measure, Iraq is not going well and it looks like more troops will be needed there. That will mean more deaths and more drain on our treasury. How long do you think Americans will buy into the right's current spin that Saddam was a monster to the Iraqi people when its the Iraqi people who are killing [and probably torturing and mutilating] our troops. The economy is not going any where fast. Things don't do well under the cloud of negativity, uncertainty and suspicion that we now have in this country. Every time we think a corner has been turned something bad crops up to negate that action. The war on terrorism is not going well. Even a reward of $25 million can't ferret out OBL. Al Qaeda seems more active than ever and terrorist attacks against Americans and their property are on the increase. And now we have to watch our back with what were once our strongest allies, some of whom are covertly conspiring against us. American credibility and respect has plummeted in the past two years. The Bush administration has managed to go after a number of sizeable minorities in this country with its attacks on affirmative action and gay rights. His minions have helped create a climate of dis-ease and fear with its constant carping on family values and patriotism and treasonous acts. When the Dixie Chicks can fear for their lives or someone like Coulter can go after some of our more respected leaders like FDR and praise someone like McCarthy, then we know how far the disease and corruption of conservatism have infected our lives. The negative impact of the above has become cumulative and it too is nearing a critical mass. I wasn't paying a great deal of attention back in the early 90's but I suspect that conditions are similar and that it will play out much like it did with Bush I. And I'm think there ain't much Bush II can do about it. Its the ideology, stupid! Subject Titles Only Full-Text Message Boards Terms of Use Silicon Investor
