Which is why theocracies never work. Religions are based on a usually rigid set of morals, which by definition are intolerant of 'coloring outside the lines'. That intolerance eventually breeds repression, and then tyranny.

Those who advocate a 'Christian Theocracy' are, in essence, advocating tyranny. Why? Because a theocracy, by definition, imposes its religion-based morality upon the country. Since a country such as the US could never have homogenous religious views, by definition there would be dissenters. But if the law of the land is based in that religion, then those dissenters would need to be punished.

The founding fathers recognized this danger, and specifically designed the government to be secular and thus democratic.
