Perhaps it should be, the democracy you get is equal to the democracy you can afford.

Democracy. That's a very loose word. If we get on a podium and talk about how great the US is, we say "Democracy". If Bush wants to change the government of some country...he talks of "Democracy". Unless of course it's a democratic country that does something horrible and offensive....like trade with Cuba. But when we talk about informing the American people, telling them the truth about policy [foreign or domestic]...the conservatives don't say the word "Democracy"...no..."Republic" is the word of choice.

That's what money buys, more Republic and less Democracy. Bombard [to the tune of 100s of $millions] the people with 3-5 word phrases and tell them not to look at the detail.

Bush earns 10 times as much with a wink of the eye.

It's more than a wink....it's estate taxes, dividend income, setting up companies with contracts in Iraq [there's more than one way to get your hands on oil]....lots more than just a wink.
