Article on Chávez - #reply-19093339

This guy Palast is a raving partisan socialist, personally i'd take anything he says with multiple grains of salt as if it came from the PNAC bunch at Fox 'News' ... both sides are lying to us, we know this as a matter of course ... and one thing he gets wrong here, is it's not so simple in Vz, with 'run by a minority of very white people, pure-blood descendants of the Spanish conquistadors. To most of the 80 percent of Venezuelans who are brown, Hugo Chavez is their Nelson Mandela, the man who will smash the economic and social apartheid' ... there are factions other than those of old spanish on the anti-chavista side .... foreign expats and a large jewish faction in Caracas, along with their local connections, for a start ..... and the issue of race becomes less crucial over time, as people cross the line, it becomes far more a thing of culture

The Vet follows Gold Reserve, he makes good sense on it and Las Brisas a few weeks ago, in relation to the kry.to thing .... useful to follow others in the country, imho, as it all goes to the political risk question

Yes, i think that if well and carefully done, a dredging operation on the río Caroni could be quite clean and harm-free ... trick is to hoover up aggregate cleanly without stirring sediment downstream, not so hard to do .... only thing is, if some rare fish had that area as its only habitat, or something .... but even so, only a small portion of the claim would be effected in any given year ..... and certainly, natural forces such as flooding will be far more significant in effect on the riverbed
