Ditto... Pray tell Hawk.. Exactly how does conspiring to launch an Israeli-Russian attack on the WTC in NYC create a Casus Belli for war against Afghanistan?

I believe the whole provocation scheme got scrapped as soon as it became clear that Israel's armed forces were prevailing... Perhaps the sacrificing of the USS Liberty was also used as a showdown to call the USSR bluff. Indeed, Prez Johnson might have told the Soviets, "Look, now we've got a casus belli with Egypt as she shamelessly sank a US Navy ship --a harmless ship dispatched only on an observation mission! What are you gonna do, tovarich Kruchev? Raise the stakes up to WWIII... or throw in the towel? Okay, here's the deal: if you stop supplying and assisting Egypt and let Israel carry the day then we'll scrap our Liberty gambit and stay out of the war... Of course, we'll lean on Israel after the war to give Egypt some 'breathing room'..."
